At the event, the latest quality Hungarian cinemato- graphic works were shown and awarded. The Hungarian Film Awards were presented by the Hungarian Film Academy for the first time in 2016 for the best films in 18 categories. of the works funded under the Hungarian Media Patronage Programme of the Media Council, six were awarded in their categories. With the event, the organisations involved in film funding in Hungary intend to rec- ognise the work of filmmakers, and bring Hungarian films of increas- ing quality closer to Hungarian audiences. 53
